Mrs. Blondeau will be dashing for cash and we would love to have the Meadowbrook School Community join her at the game to cheer her on. All the money Mrs. Blondeau gathers as well as the money donated from your ticket purchases is coming back to our school. With this money raised and won, we plan on using it to train our staff on Mindfulness as well as purchase the resources needed to bring Mindfulness tools to our students and classrooms. What does Mindfulness in the classroom mean? Mindfulness is how to help kids regulate their behavior in order to focus on learning. Students will learn to control their attention and manage their stress to ultimately create focus in the classroom. Here is a link to a short video on Mindfulness, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNCB1MZDgQA&t=17s.
Please find the attached order form if you would like to purchase tickets to the Jan. 28th Gambler Game. Order forms are due Jan. 13. ********************************************** Snow-Specific Playground RulesAs a rule all children go outside for 30 minutes once a day when the weather temperature, factoring in the wind chill, is at or above zero. All Meadowbrook students are required to wear a winter coat, a hat or headband and mittens out on the playground. Please work with your child to have him/her dress/undress without assistance. The teachers work hard to make sure each child is dressed appropriately but the students are expected to dress independently. Please label all the winter clothing items for your child. With over 500 students, it is easy to misplace your winter gear. Click here to see the snow-specific playground rules.
Health Notes From Nurse MarciaOur building nurse, Marcia Shefchik has a Nurse Marcia website. Click here to read general information and items of relevancy.
Click here for information on head lice. The Brown County Health Department is holding an immunization clinic for all children, to coincide with the State’s immunization checkpoint requirements for schools. This will give families with children behind on immunizations another opportunity to receive needed vaccines in time to meet the State Deadlines and at no charge. Please note: This clinic is available to ALL children ages 2 months through 18 years, regardless of insurance coverage Click here for the flyer Cold and flu season is here. Please be aware that Cough drops are considered an over the counter medication. If you send cough drops to school they must be in the original package and an Over the Counter Medication form needs to be filled out. Click here for the link for the page that includes the form that needs to be filled out is below. Thank you. ******************************************* EMERGENCY CLOSINGS AND DELAYS Inclement weather may necessitate the closing or delay of schools. If schools are closed this will also include the cancellation of extracurricular activities and the events in the community pool unless otherwise announced. Please listen to local radio or television stations for school closings or delays. Such weather may also deter students from going outside during the school day. Please be sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather. In addition to local radio and television, weather conditions can be checked on-line at www.hssd.k12.wi.us. You will also be notified by phone and email of any closings or delays via the district's automated message system.
