Have you ever enjoyed a book so much that you didn't want to put the book down? At Meadowbrook Elementary, we want each student to feel that passion and excitement for reading! Reading is a chance to learn more, explore new places, and get lost in your imagination. This year, our students are going to "Get Caught Reading!" In honor of our theme, Dive into Learning, we want students to get "caught" with a good book! Throughout the year, you will see pictures of students reading posted on Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag, #GetCaughtReadingMB! Join in on the fun, take pictures of your student and family reading at home, on vacation, in the car, wherever you bring a book! Tag it with our hashtag so we can see all of the awesome places our Meadowbrook family is reading this year. Join in on the excitement and #GetCaughtReadingMB!
******************************************* Meet Our New StaffHello! My name is Janice Huhtala and I am one of the new first grade teachers at Meadowbrook for the 2015-16 school year. I am very excited to be part of the Meadowbrook community as well as the Howard Suamico School District.
Before coming to Meadowbrook, I taught for 15 years in the Green Bay School District. I am originally from the UP of Michigan. I went to Northern Michigan University and received a master’s degree in reading from Viterbo University. I live in Suamico with my husband, Troy, and our three daughters, Allie (9th grade), Meg (6th grade) and Izzy (3rd grade). Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cooking, reading, watching the Packers and going to TJ MAXX! I look forward to working with the students, staff and families of Meadowbrook this school year! I can be reached at 662-5004 or [email protected] ******************************************** Hi! My name is Amy Kohnhorst, a new Kindergarten teacher at Meadowbrook Elementary. I graduated from Illinois State University in 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I began my teaching career in Grafton, WI. where I taught Kindergarten for three years. I moved to the Howard area in July and got married on August 1st. My husband and I love watching the Packers, golfing, and spending time with our family. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with the families and staff of Meadowbrook! You can contact me by phone at 662-5022 or by email at [email protected].
********************************************* Hi! My name is Kelli Halron and I am thrilled to kick off the 2015-16 school year as a new First Grade Teacher. Always having a desire to be an educator led me to major in Elementary Education at the University of Iowa, where I received endorsements in Reading and Language Arts. After graduating I moved to Chicago where I taught a diverse group of Kindergartners. I am happy to be back in my hometown teaching in the Howard-Suamico School District and more importantly at Meadowbrook Elementary! If I’m not in my classroom you can find me at the gym, on the tennis court or curled up with a good book and my English Bulldog, Willow. I am excited to be apart of the Meadowbrook community and I am looking forward to the year ahead. I can be reached at 662-5006 or by email at: [email protected]. Let the learning begin!
********************************************* Hello! My name is Becky Baranowski and I am the new Special Education Teacher at Meadowbrook Elementary. Before coming to Meadowbrook I worked at Suamico Elementary as a Special Education Aide for several years. I recently completed my Special Education Licensing program through St. Mary's University. I am a proud mother of 6 children ages 16-22. We enjoy spending time together whenever we get the chance. My husband Gary and I also own a furnished rental home next to Lambeau Field that keeps us very busy all year round. (Go Pack!) I am looking forward to working with and supporting the students at Meadowbrook Elementary and collaborating with the teachers to help to enhance students learning. I can be reached at 662-5015 or by email at [email protected].
