When Anna heard the following story she wanted to help.
“When Chad and I went to Belize in August to check it out before bringing the kids, we learned that one of the hardest things for kids to get in Belize is good shoes. We met a little boy that was selling peanuts along the road and when we asked him what he was going to do with the money, his response was that he was working so he could buy shoes for school.” Anna would like to collect shoes to give to kids in Belize She would like to ask kids to bring gently used shoes to donate and then she would bring them to the village school while they are there. Donated shoes need to be dropped off at Meadowbrook by Monday of next week (January 9) in order to put them in the vehicle that is going to Belize. Thank you for considering. Becky Zimmer, Principal ********************************************* Green Bay Gambler GameMeadowbrook has been given the opportunity to participate in the Dash for Cash event at an upcoming Green Bay Gambler Game. Mrs. Blondeau will be dashing for cash and we would love to have the Meadowbrook School Community join her at the game to cheer her on. All the money Mrs. Blondeau gathers as well as the money donated from your ticket purchases is coming back to our school. With this money raised and won, we plan on using it to train our staff on Mindfulness as well as purchase the resources needed to bring Mindfulness tools to our students and classrooms. What does Mindfulness in the classroom mean? Mindfulness is how to help kids regulate their behavior in order to focus on learning. Students will learn to control their attention and manage their stress to ultimately create focus in the classroom. Here is a link to a short video on Mindfulness, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNCB1MZDgQA&t=17s.
Please find the attached order form if you would like to purchase tickets to the Jan. 28th Gambler Game. Order forms are due Jan. 13. ********************************************** Our top 10 Reasons we Bell-Rang for the Salvation Army Christmas 2016…
****************************************** Did you know that bullying is very different than rude, mean, disrespectful, and many other negative behaviors? As part of our HSSD School Counseling curriculum all students are taught bully prevention. Mrs. Wilson taught these lessons to all 1st - 4th grade students in her Life Skills classes before break. We want YOU to know what they learned so that you can best support them at home!
Your child(ren) learned the definition (they really only need to remember THREE words!!) and how to respond if it happens to them or to someone else. We want students to develop the skills to be able to solve conflict and handle negative behavior independently, but bullying will often not stop unless an adult or other authority figure addresses it. Here is the definition to discuss at home with your kids: Bullying is when someone: REPEATEDLY uses POWER to HURT someone's body or feelings All 3 of these things must be true for something to be considered bullying. Please use this definition when talking about negative behavior with your child. If it does not fit this definition, offer advice or guidance about how to handle the problem independently or suggest that they talk to their teacher to get some ideas about how they might solve the problem or handle the negative person. However, if the negative behavior DOES fit this definition, encourage your child to speak up for themselves or others immediately! Keep telling until the bullying stops! If you would like more information, you can check out the 4th grade bullying page on my website: http://meadowbrookschoolcounseling.weebly.com/teasingbullying.html or contact me at [email protected] ~Mrs. Wilson ******************************************** New Year-Round Update process
