******************************************** Welcome Back Bulldogs!
You can only imagine how lonely the halls have been while our families enjoyed their summer break. The staff have been in and out, working hard to prepare their classroom, but the halls were made for the sounds of children giggling and chattering.
On behalf of the entire staff here at Meadowbrook, I would like to welcome all new and returning students and their families. We're so happy to have your children and look forward to another great school year! The theme for this school year is, "Together is Better" We believe that all students are capable of achieving great things! The Parent School Association has a volunteer program; and we encourage each one of you to stay involved with your child's education. I look forward to seeing you at the PSA meeting on Tuesday, September 11th at 6:00 pm in the Meadowbrook Library. This newsletter is published on a weekly basis, and is emailed out every Thursday to showcase all of the great things going on here at Meadowbrook! You can also like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Becky Zimmer 920-662-5000 [email protected] ********************************************************************** The Very First Day
These procedures are in place for the safety of your children; we ask that you adhere to them and respect the staff that will be outside enforcing the process.
ARRIVAL: The doors to Meadowbrook are opened at 8:20 am for breakfast; and then at 8:30 am for all remaining students. Please do not drop your child off prior to 8:20 am; as there is no supervision outside. Children are not allowed on the playground before school - as this is the staging area for buses. You are welcome to use either driveway;please have your child exit curbside. If your child needs assistance exiting the vehicle - please find a parking spot in the staff lot. In order to accommodate the large number of families who transport their children to school, please make sure to pull up as far as you can to the car in front of you. Dismissal: All grades will be dismissed at 3:25 pm. Buses will be waiting in the back and will not leave the grounds until everyone has boarded. If you would like to meet your child in the office or out front; please park your car in the staff lot - do not use either driveway, as it is important to keep traffic moving. ********************************************************************** Parents using Wrap Around Care or Lamers Bus LinesPlease note that it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to communicate with Lamers Bus Lines at 920-434-5100 if your child is not riding the bus during their scheduled times. In addition; it is very important for you to notify both the school AND your care provider if your child will be absent or when their schedule changes. Although Champions is housed onsite; they should be contacted at 920-434-6043; as they are a separate entity.
******************************************** Child Custody MattersOur role as educators is to stay neutral in all custody matters. We will follow all court orders regarding your child(ren). If we do not have an official court order on file in our school office, we will treat both parents equally. Both parents, regardless of placement, can receive report cards and other communication about your child's progress unless we have court documentation directing us not to do so.
Questions regarding policies dealing with these types of matters should be directed to Becky Zimmer, Meadowbrook principal, or you can access more information on the District web site. ******************************************* Attendance/Absentee Procedures
Parents are required to call us anytime their child is absent. Please call the school attendance line at 662-5036 prior to 8:30 am; this line is available to take calls 24 hours a day. If we do not receive a call on an absent student, a follow up call will be made so we can verify the whereabouts of your child. The safety of your child is our top priority; so we take this process very seriously. If you do not call in prior to 8:45 am with the reason your child will be absent or tardy, an unexcused absence will be recorded.
Extended Absences: If you are planning a family vacation, etc. please pick up an Excused Absence Request Form from our office; or download and print one from the District web site. Forms should be completed and returned to the office or classroom teacher at least one week prior to the start of the absence. All extended absences must be approved by the building principal; and a copy of the approved form will be sent home with your child. ********************************************************************** Let's Recycle TogetherNew this year we will be collecting aluminum cans; and periodically taking them into Alter Recycling. All money earned will benefit Meadowbrook directly! So rather than throwing them into your general recycling; please consider dropping them off in the fenced in area near the sheds in our staff parking lot. We will discuss our progress at the monthly Bulldog Bash and promise to update as the money begins to accumulate. Thanks for your consideration!
